So thankful!

Esther Orridge 2012

This week I've been thinking about lots of things that I take for granted. I thought it'd be a good exercise to write out things I'm thankful for and make some form of graphic with it. Here's what I did today. I've used some new fonts that I've found about the web. What are you most thankful for?

In the right FRAME of mind

Esther Orridge 2012
Esther Orridge 2012

For a while now I've wanted to make some prints to frame for in our new house. Here are the first two that I did today. My wonderful husband has just put them up for me (I don't do DIY because I'll break everything). The Cake themed one is for my kitchen - I LOVE to bake. And the Joshua 24:15 one is now in the hall by the front door. What do you think? :)

First Framed Print Design 2012

Esther Orridge 2012
I've been looking for something to buy for our close friend's baby's dedication and really struggled. I didn't want to get them something that would either be useless or added to a pile of trinkets. So I bought a frame and designed them a print. I used a neutral colour scheme so that if it is put in the baby's nursery it would compliment it and not be "in-your-face". I hope they like it and it will encourage them in the future!

House Warming Invite 2012

Esther Orridge 2012

After been in our new house for over a month, we have finally got around to having our house warming party! So as usual I jumped at the opportunity to design the invitation! This is what I came up with and we got printed. Can you guess the theme?

Vintage Baby Shower Invitation Design

Esther Orridge 2012

It's always baby season now at our church and here is another baby shower invitation I designed for a friend. She loves the vintage style so I took that on board and made this. I've not put it up before now as the Mummy-to-be only found out when she arrived at my house what was happening. The guests seemed to like the invite and it serves it's purpose. I plan to use this design again in the future. It was weird seeing them on people's mantle pieces :) Exciting to see my own work out there! Woo!

Baby Shower Invitation!

Esther Orridge 2012

I've been asked to orgonise and host another friend's baby shower in October this year. And the part of this I get most excited about (apart from the fact she's going to have a baby!!) is designing the invitations. This is my 3rd baby shower design. The Mummy-to-be's favourite colour is purple and they do not know if they are having a boy or girl. So it was natural/necessary to have purple as the colour scheme. They've printed out really well and came earlier from the printers than I expected. I'm so excited to send them out and I hope that she really likes the design even if her guests aren't so sure!! Just got to actually DO the baby shower now aaaaaah! :)

Happy Birthday Abigail!!

Well today my sister and I turn 22! 7/7 is a good day. I made her this poster for her bedroom. I thought I'd keep it bright and bold so she could see it clearly. I personally need this reminder ha! I hope that she likes it as she did request it a few months ago. Happy Birthday Abigail! :) x

Celebration time!

Esther Orridge 2012
Well I am British and proud to be. So I thought it'd be fun to join in with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations! Here's my post dedicated to HM Queen Elizabeth II. It's just a bit of fun really. It's been a while since I did something vibrant for on here.
I am in the process of designing more deign related things so they will be posted once they are used for you to see :)

Colourful Quotes

Esther Orridge 2012
Esther Orridge 2012
For a while now I've wanted to make some quotes into graphical pieces. I wasn't sure how I'd do it but this shows my first attempt. A friend came out with a good one this week which was "I love epic!" and immediately I wanted to create a graphic to capture this forever. Each quote I have in mind has a specific story or meaning behind it. They are quotes from people that have impacted my life in some way or that I just have to record somehow. The top one is from the wife of a Pastor who is connected with my church. It's one of the quotes I try and live by because when I'm tired my attitude can stink!!
I also have another typographic idea up my sleeves but as with this idea I'm not quite sure how or when I'll be able to do it. So when I figure it out I'll pop it up here for you to see...
P.s I have no idea why it keeps changing the colours when you click on the images. If you have any ideas I'd appreciate the heads up please :)

Doodle Pebble

Esther Orridge 2012

I got bored last week (don't normally have time to) and found a few slate pebbles laying around the house from a trip to Whitby last year. So I decided to see how my line drawings would look on it. Here's the first I've ever done. Thought it was interesting - more than just on a piece of paper??
Was hard not to smudge the pen though and also keep the technique as I would when drawing on a flat surface!

Ice-Cream!

"Coppa Bibis" Illustration

"Coppa Bibis" Illustration Block-Colour
After the Bibis post I wanted to draw and play with the "Coppa Bibis" ice-cream I had :) Mmmmm! So here's another little illustration - thought it'd be nice to do another one as it's been a while. Only problem is that I'm now feeling a little chilly..!

Do you remember me?

Unexpectedly last week I was given the opportunity to bring my Maud doodle alive! I had a day to play with at my placement and was told that I could concentrate on experimenting with him. This is a small card range that I managed to produce. I tweaked them slightly this week - after my first appraisal at my placement (which went really well, praise God). I love my little reindeer and I'm really happy with how he's turned out! My favourite designs are the last 2. Are you feeling festive yet? :) I'm getting there...

Happy Birthday Jonny C!!

Made for You by Me! 2011
This is a card I made today for a friend's 30th birthday!! It's my favourite birthday card I've made this year. I plan to use the cake illustration sometime soon :) I really like it, Jonny really liked it and I hope you really like it too!

Made for You by Me! 2011
Today, as I was making a card to send to a friend I came up with these little designs. I hope you like them as much as I do. Very simple and easy to produce. I'd like to start making more of these as a branch off from my "Made For You By Me!" range. I don't have a name for these bugs yet but I'll think of one soon. Please let me know what you think. Cute?

Order of Service Design

I just remembered that I designed our Order of Service for the wedding and thought I'd put it up :) The illustration I drew for the background was of my bouquet. I thought it was a simple way to add some personal detail to the layout. We decided to print them on basic print paper - the majority of people just end up playing with them through the service anyway! They did the job well I thought.

Feeling a little dramatic?

This is the start of a small project I have going of my own. This was my first sketch for an up-and-comming event :) Exciting. Will keep you posted on this. Hope you like it!

To go with the Scone

If you haven't guessed already, I've got a few sketches I drew a while back and I've wanted to post them on here. This week I've actually had the chance to do so. So I hope you like my little drawings :) And that you share my passion for food! Ha!

Shine your light

I had loads of candles at our wedding and we're just using up the last ones at home now. We need to get some more, they've all melted away :( gutted. I love candles. They make a house homely and welcoming. Hope this makes you a little warmer.

Fruity!

After all that cake this week I thought it would be good to finally put up some fruit. Something healthy. Yes I do know what healthy stuff is :) I did try to include a kiwi but I couldn't stop the colour looking mucky so decided to just use the bright ones.

1, 2, Hey, Hey!

This post is dedicated to my husband. I told him I'd draw him a mic! If you know what type of mic this is without looking it up I'll be impressed :) - not that it takes a lot to impress me ha! Although it's not the most colourful of objects I think it's ok. May be I'll jazz it up in the future?
