Slides in a Box

Blast from the Past.
A close relative of mine recently passed away and she left behind all her old slides of photographs throughout her life. Here are a few I've scanned in already. I'm shocked at how nice they are. So old skool. It's like everything has frozen in time! I love them so much. I'd like to feature some in one or more of my Uni projects sometime :) Whitby really is timeless. Love it. So much British history and family history. It was interesting to find these shortly after visiting Whitby with Uni. Hope you like them as much as I do.

Technical Workshops - Flash Week 4

Well it's not the actual flash files uploaded (I still don't know how to yet) but these are a few print screens from the making of a few sample animations - learning the ropes.
Top: Mr Jelly - whilst learning the 'bone tool' Mr Jelly goes on an underwater adventure.
Centre: Count-up - Morphing characters from frame to frame.
Bottom: Crazy Bunny - Moving a graphic around the stage using the 'classic tween' tool.

Note

I've sent my photo of Castle Hill (taken on 7/10/2010) in to the BBC and also posted it on the Great British Life site. I've called the photo 'Over the Hill'. This is a much better picture than the ones I put up in the summer. Anyway I'm still waiting to hear from BBC but take a look at the G.B.L site and let me know what you think :)

Christmas Card Competition

OK so I got to Uni today and was told that my card was wrong and "too simple." So I have until next Wednesday to re-design a new one. So let's see what I can come up with...

Christmas Card Competition

This was my entry to the University's Christmas Card Competition 2010 that I handed in today. Hand-made. Only took an hour and that was because I made it on the spot with extremely limited resources. Nice and simple :) I'm quite happy with it. The judging commences on Wednesday 13th October.

Technical Workshops - Flash Week 3

For the past 3 weeks every Monday we Graphic designers have had 6 hour training on the software Adobe Flash. It took a while to understand, however, slowly but surely I'm getting to grips with it. It's interesting. I've already made a few small animations using basic shapes and morphing numbers which was pretty kool. I also created an Octopus and taken him on a journey through the sea (an extremely simple flash animation I did last week). I named him Mr Jelly.

This week we began to create our banners for the technical file side to our course this year. Although I had a few technical problems I managed to overcome them and get the file back to a stage where I can easily pick what I was doing back up and complete the task I set. First half (frames 1-60) will be finished this week ready to complete second half (61-120) next Monday.

Unfortunately I do not know how to upload these onto the blog which is a shame because I'm quite excited about them. If and when I can do this I will so you can have a look for yourself :)

Fenay Bridge Views

Top Image: Taken on 29/09/2010 at home. Couldn't believe how beautiful the sky was that evening. It was bazaar but so calming.
Bottom Image: Taken on 07/10/2010 at bottom entrance to the estate. I was taking a photo of the tree. It was only when I looked at it on screen I realised it had catch the sun ray and also captured Castle Hill in the background :)
Surprisingly both were taken on my phone!

ROAD TRIP!! To Whitby! :)

Wet Whitby!
What a day. We all set off at 8:30am from Uni campus, drove 2 hours or so to then be told "OK, see you back at the coach at 3pm!" Now on normal sunny days Whitby is amazing. I love it :) There is LOADS of family history and British history which is why I'm guessing we went. But this particular Friday it decided to throw it down (see last image). Yes I was very happy. So after taking a few shots before the worst of the weather exploded we (me and my great friend Gemma) decided to quickly eat our s/w wherever we could find cover then run to a tea room for a lovely cream tea :D Soooooo English. Love it! We dried off in there whilst discussing peoples choice of clothing outside in the rain. Board shorts? In October? And also began counting how many times the girl wearing fluorescent yellow shoes walked past the window within the time we ate our scones. Once we plucked up the courage to venture out again we headed for cover in the arcade with 2p machines and crazy pirate golf! Argh!! When we eventually got back to the coach every single person was soaking wet through! But for some reason, not only were we late back, but the air-con was on!! It. Was. Freezing!
So, point of the day? I still don't have a clue... I'd like to re-visit Whitby when the weather is clearer and get a better range of photographs. I'm not happy with the ones I got as it rained so much I couldn't take many. It's gorgeous when it's sunny and bright - not necessarily hot but just clear to enjoy the views. We'll see what happens...
