Flyer design!

Ta da!!! Here is my first piece of freelance work I have produced for a company called Wigwam. It's been printed and sent out to over 2000 businesses and suppliers to promote their offer.
It was my job to create the flyer and do the layout and set the copy. I'm quite happy with how it's turned out. And Wigwam seem pleased :) That's what it's all about. Happy happy happy!

Well the Winter Wonderland was a success! I helped my Mum with her stall on Saturday and watched the events unfold across the day. What a lot of people there was. It was brilliant! And I won a tube of smarties from the Chocolate Tombola :) Woooo!

A found memory

I found this the other day in my memory box. It was a gift handmade by one of my bridesmaids and given to me for a hen present. I want to frame it but I'm still looking for the right frame. It will be up in the future.
It's now a year since my hen do! Wow! Good times :)

HCF Stars in their Eyes 2011!

Well last night was the biggest HCF "Stars in their Eyes" event yet! The set was awesome and the performances were definitely entertaining! Thanks to the guys who put a TV backstage for us to see the performances this time. Good call!
It was so much fun - even if I had to make sure I didn't stain anything with the mass of body paint I was covered with all night. It took 40mins for a friend to plaster on the paint! - And no i didn't do anything to my teeth!
I was on first as "Tina Turner" singing "Proud Mary!" It was so much fun! I hope I made her proud ha! Although I didn't win I'm glad I did it because it was just a fantastic night. All 9 acts gave it their best and the gents who did the "Blues Brothers" were deserving winners. What a performance. Well done guys!
And thanks Dad for the photo! :) x

Personalised Jar Labels!

The above images (that were taken by my boss) show the first ever of my designs up for sale! Woooo!
They are part of the new Cherrygorgeous products that are making their way through to production this year. Exciting! And the labels were a project that I was heavily involved with.
Along with my boss, we created a range of personalised jar labels for homemade preserved fruit/veg/pickle jars. I feel so privileged that my designs are being used by the business. Thanks Dee! :)
Check out the link for details of the product (yes it really is online - I can't believe it)!

Cherrygorgeous Post

One of my tasks on the side was to hunt for vintage bridal gowns on ebay.co.uk to post about on the Cherrygorgeous blog yesterday. There were many vintage-style that I found but most auctions ended before I could post about it, however there's a few good ones that I did manage display. Most were around the £350 mark *buy now*. Take a look if you like :)

Do you remember me?

Unexpectedly last week I was given the opportunity to bring my Maud doodle alive! I had a day to play with at my placement and was told that I could concentrate on experimenting with him. This is a small card range that I managed to produce. I tweaked them slightly this week - after my first appraisal at my placement (which went really well, praise God). I love my little reindeer and I'm really happy with how he's turned out! My favourite designs are the last 2. Are you feeling festive yet? :) I'm getting there...

Wokon Packaging

Yesterday I was introduced to a brilliant healthy fast food restaurant in Leeds. I was cheeky and asked if I could have a clean box to bring home. This is the second time I've seen this type of packaging used within the space of 2 or 3 weeks. It reminded me of the "Puur" packaging from an earlier post.
Thanks Sian for introducing me to Wokon! You are a star! :)

Dutch Deisgn

We recently went to Holland for a short holiday to catch up with my husband's family over there. They are AMAZING!! They really looked after us and I learnt a lot over there.
One of the family members bought us some special chocolate from a Chocolatier in Gouda. I instantly loved the packaging and I had to pop it on here for everyone to see!
"Puur" is the word for "Dark" in Dutch. They specialise in Dark Chocolate. Mmmmmm... We were definitely spoilt. I didn't have time to take photos of all the chocolates as they were eaten too quickly but I grabbed a photo from their site to show you what kinds of fun things we had in the box...!
(Their site is http://www.puurchocolade.nl/foto_culinair.html if you are interested in seeing the gallery. The site is in Dutch so I thought you'd appreciate the pictures)

Telegram!

This post is about an invitation design I did based on the 1940s theme we had for my lovely friend's hen do! I based it on a telegram design. I love doing layouts for things. Simple but effective. I printed onto some special paper (a cream version of tracing-like paper). The overall look went down well.
We bridesmaids all planned a night to remember based on the style of 40s housewives. Karolina was up to the challenge and rocked the red lipstick! She looked fabulous!! What fun we had and that was only part 1..! :D

UHHT Logo Design

At the beginning of the Summer Break I was asked to design the new University of Huddersfield Field Hockey Team's logo for the coming year. It was great to get such an open brief but still get constructive feedback from my client whenever I sent any designs over. Eventually, this is the final design which they are currently in the process of using for their Freshers Week promotional pieces. It's a privilege that they are using my design! Wow!

Party Treats!

Home-made cake treats left over from the party.
Me and my other birthday friend baked for the party. I made the two birthday cakes (Victoria Sandwiches) and she made loads and loads and loads of these cute cup-cakes! I just HAD to photograph them before they got eaten... Yes by me! I'd be surprised if you didn't know me that well yet. Ha! The chocolate fudge ones were my favourite... and oh yes I have 1 of each left for my husband - because I'm a good wife :D

Baby card!

Made for You by Me! 2011
More cards :)
I've made so many cards in the past week!! Here's the "New Baby" card I have made for an amazing couple from my church who had their beautiful baby girl last week. It would be so kool if I could make the butterflies myself - I can't take credit for this one though.

Following on from my invitation design, here is a photo of me from my 21st Do (joint with my wonderful friend Alice). It was a really fun night - with loads of food!!! I still have cake Mmmm!! Anyway, thought you'd like to see :)

New Card Range!

Made for You by Me! 2011
Made for You by Me! 2011
Made for You by Me! 2011
Today, as I was making a card to send to a friend I came up with these little designs. I hope you like them as much as I do. Very simple and easy to produce. I'd like to start making more of these as a branch off from my "Made For You By Me!" range. I don't have a name for these bugs yet but I'll think of one soon. Please let me know what you think. Cute?

Sand.

We went for a walk to Sands End on Tuesday and I was itching to play with the sand. It's been too long since I've been to a beach. The sand was perfect to write in :) Here are a few things I did.

1, 2, 3... Whitby

Here are a few shots from our trip away to Whitby last weekend to see the In-Laws. It was glorious weather and I can't believe how hot it got on Monday!! And I think I got a slight tan too!! Score ha!

Up-to-date!

Wow, it's been a while. Sorry guys. There are more posts to come but I'm just setting up a new home computer system so I will be up to date with posts asap. I've got some great photos from our Whitby trip this weekend. Was lovely to see the In-Laws and friends. And of course it was THE HOTTEST DAY I can remember in this country yesterday!! It was ridiculously hot. Though I was going to pass out. A welcome change to the wet and windy weather of Huddersfield! And what a contrast from my last visit to Whitby - if you don't believe me see my post from my University trip on 1st October 2010!!!
Anyway, new posts will be up shortly. Thanks for being patient! :) x

Paper Contacts

My first book.
This is the first attempt I have done to make a simple book - using instructions from a book I bought at the beginning of my second year of University - and I decided that I really needed a contact book. I found some card and pieces laying around my desk and began to make this :) It's not perfect but it serves it's purpose and holds my necessary addresses for writing to my family.

Special Package

Some more to add to my collection :)
My Cath Kidston collection is gradually growing. We (me, my Mum and a friend) had a trip to Manchester City for the afternoon and I was introduced to the brand new Manchester store. I got an amazing purse to match my bag - yes slightly sad but I love it! However there was an issue that eventually was resolved by returning the purse and they sent me a brand new one through their own postal service all wrapped up in the infamous CK patterned wrapping. They threw in a free bag and badge just for me. Nice! I wanted to show you what a lovely little package I received today.

Personal Invitation Design

Masquerade!!! ("Paper faces on parade...")
It's coming up to my 21st and my friend's 30th. We decided to have a joint party and celebrate in style. I've been a massive fan of The Phantom of the Opera - hence the quote - since I was about 15 years old and ever since I saw the film I have wanted to have a masquerade ball. Our venue is a little small to host a full on masquerade however we've asked people to dress up and wear masks. Should be fun. Hope you like my design. I do :)

Order of Service Design

I just remembered that I designed our Order of Service for the wedding and thought I'd put it up :) The illustration I drew for the background was of my bouquet. I thought it was a simple way to add some personal detail to the layout. We decided to print them on basic print paper - the majority of people just end up playing with them through the service anyway! They did the job well I thought.
