New cherrygorgeous design!

Image from cherrygorgeous.co.uk

Well it's finally here! My first ever official invitation design. This is the most recent design project I've had at cherrygorgeous based on Indian wedding stationery. I have loved it and learned a lot through it. My boss is a great inspiration! She has really helped me develop many skills over the few months I've been there.
The design isn't quite live yet but it has been Blogged and Pinterested! Look out for it being launched in bold and exciting colours!
If you are looking for eco-chic and stylish wedding stationery, look no further and go to cherrygorgeous.co.uk!

UHHT Logo Design

At the beginning of the Summer Break I was asked to design the new University of Huddersfield Field Hockey Team's logo for the coming year. It was great to get such an open brief but still get constructive feedback from my client whenever I sent any designs over. Eventually, this is the final design which they are currently in the process of using for their Freshers Week promotional pieces. It's a privilege that they are using my design! Wow!

Confidence is key!

And breath :) I've just handed in my second dissertation proposal and I'm much more confident about this one. We were advised to choose a topic that we were passionate about seeing as though most of our time would be taken doing it. This new proposal is much more defined than my first one and hopefully my tutor thinks so too. I will keep you posted on this throughout my next year or so depending on deadline dates etc. And no it's not about cake! I wish!!

Self-Driven Project

For my final Year 2 University project I had to set myself a brief to follow throughout the past term. We were instructed to have a faux client to work from. So, in short, I decided to 're-launch' a local craft supplying company into the international market. My aim was to produce a stationary set and website design for it (at least). After a challenging but rewarding creative journey I'm happy to display some of my final work from this project.

Lovin' the Lines!

Back to the 1st year!
Yes I do always deny I was ever a first year, however, I re-visited my line drawings to use on a recent brief. This is the first of the two which I drew (each took 2 hours at least). Both covered an A4 sheet comfortably. I used this drawing over my graphic robins I have just designed for the last brief we did at University.

Ye Old York, Old York!!

I didn't want to put these images with the Tea Room photographs as I like them for a different reason. I love York Minster. I think it's a beautiful piece of architecture to photograph and it has so much history to find out. I also added the image of a traditional sign post to show the end of my trip back to the station and back to Huddersfield.

Time for Tea in York (Trip 2)

These are the photographs for my York Tea Room Testing day. Some were amazing, like Betty's, and some not so amazing, which I won't say as I don't want to get sued!! But you can definitely go to York and find a lovely little tea room somewhere with prices ranging from £3.50 for a pot of tea for one to as cheap as £2 for a pot. Brilliant. But just remember to take someone with you. My day was slightly less funny without my Mum (who came with me on the Tuesday). I sat in the Tea Rooms by myself. I felt quite lonely. However, I still had a lovely day and managed to try and test at least 5 cafe/tea rooms to use for my Celebrate the City project.

York Project Trip on Tuesday.

These are photographs I took on the first trip I had to York. This day I collected images researching the city. I absolutely love the architecture there and the cuteness of the place.

Current Projects and Briefs

This year we've done quite a few fast-track briefs. So we've had to step it up.

The two main briefs we've had are "Celebrate the City" where we were required to produce a sketchbook showing our study on a city of our choice. Many students went to NYC on a trip with the Uni but as I didn't go I decided to do our very own York City. So I packed my stuff, borrowed my Dad's DSLR and did a 2 day study on the place. After the first day and it's hick-ups I had to re-shoot. I decided to do a study on the tea rooms of York. I love York, and I love tea so personally I thought it was a kool idea.

The other is a live brief (still ongoing) to design and produce a small selection of Christmas cards for a client. After having a feedback session on Friday with the client I have been given a focus and a direction to go. They liked my ideas which has boosted my confidence and giving my the drive to go further.

Construction: The Great Wall (Part 2)

...To Finish!
The end product after everyone submitted their work :) Pretty good I think.

Construction: The Great Wall (Part 1)

From start...
Everyone's characters have been submitted throughout the day. The wall has been made and taken down about 3 times and eventually it has been completed. Part 2 shows the final thing.
