Doodle Pebble

I got bored last week (don't normally have time to) and found a few slate pebbles laying around the house from a trip to Whitby last year. So I decided to see how my line drawings would look on it. Here's the first I've ever done. Thought it was interesting - more than just on a piece of paper??
Was hard not to smudge the pen though and also keep the technique as I would when drawing on a flat surface!

After the Bibis post I wanted to draw and play with the "Coppa Bibis" ice-cream I had :) Mmmmm! So here's another little illustration - thought it'd be nice to do another one as it's been a while. Only problem is that I'm now feeling a little chilly..!

Do you remember me?

Unexpectedly last week I was given the opportunity to bring my Maud doodle alive! I had a day to play with at my placement and was told that I could concentrate on experimenting with him. This is a small card range that I managed to produce. I tweaked them slightly this week - after my first appraisal at my placement (which went really well, praise God). I love my little reindeer and I'm really happy with how he's turned out! My favourite designs are the last 2. Are you feeling festive yet? :) I'm getting there...

By now you should know that I like cake and I love to bake so here is a slice for you! :) I was supposed to post this last week but Blogger failed me when I came to log on. So here it is. Lovin' the Lines!

Back to the 1st year!

Yes I do always deny I was ever a first year, however, I re-visited my line drawings to use on a recent brief. This is the first of the two which I drew (each took 2 hours at least). Both covered an A4 sheet comfortably. I used this drawing over my graphic robins I have just designed for the last brief we did at University.

I love cake, and I love tea, so I drew these last night :)

I'll be using them for a mini personal project soon so you may see them around.

I've drawn another two. I wanted to see how they'd look if I filled one in completely, and how it would look if i left negative space. I prefer the designs with space left to break it up a little. Stops your eyes from going funny! I also think silver pen works better on dark card - not what I expected on brown card though.

Bookmarks

Because I'm so skint and I wanted to send a small gift to my amazing sister-in-law-to-be I decided to make her something. So I thought I'd make her a bookmark in the style of my line drawings. I'd made myself one to use for my own books which was black and silver to match the book I was reading - sad I know - but decided to use brown card this time as it's a softer colour.

The first two brown ones I made I used a gold pen but then I tried with a silver pen and it seemed to stand out more. Not what I expected! So I wanted to show you to see what you think. I hope you like them. I thought they were pretty "Kool with a 'K'" :D

P.s the book I used in the picture is from the 'House of Night' series which I'll be doing a review on sometime soon.

Still Lovin' the Lines

These more linear drawings (that look more like animals) suddenly came into being during my Freshers Year at Uni. I was in the middle of a group module working with "Team Awesome". It was awesome! Anyway, I began to doodle-draw these and they started off as "just lines" and eventually I kept making pretty lines join up and they developed into recognizable shapes - mainly animals. Eventually I decided to try manufacture the lines to make the markings into a planned shape. For example, see the cat/squirrel image. The original bird is my favourite. Made out of nothingness but turned out to be something beautiful. I still have no idea how I did it. I think I drew that in a meeting... oops!

P.s. Again, these are very raw images I appologise for their crudeness!

Lovin' the Lines

These are some other drawings/sketches/doodles I put into a sketchbook before I went to University. Again, I've posted them just for future reference and to show where I started from.

Down in the Doodles

In the summer of 2009 I decided I was fed-up of pointless doodling!! There IS no point to doodling!! So I decided that I'd begin doodle with a purpose. That anything could become a piece of work. These are the few I did over the summer months leading up to my Fresher Year at Huddersfield University. This is where I sub-consciously began the road to developing my own style.

This image/drawing was more of the beginning of an idea rather than a doodle. I thought it would be amazing to be able to draw out what's in your' mind/what your bank of thoughts are. It would be an un-ending web of memories, senses, emotions, experiences, images, secrets, dreams, do-not-forgets and the buds of your imagination waiting to bloom!! Even though it's not the greatest of demonstrations, this was all I could do at the time. Hand-drawn in my bedroom I was pleased with my work and one day I hope to extend, improve and develop this idea once I have the skills to do so.

I just wanted to share a bit of background on the sketches for future reference and for whenever I get to pick them back up again for development. I hope you like them. Thanks for reading :D
