It's been a while since I've taken my camera out for an event. This weekend was the Ladies Tea at the Cathedral (Huddersfield). I wanted to try and capture the feel of the event. It's not ground-breaking but the images came out better than I expected and I'm happy with what I got. Unlimited tea served in China cups and saucers, sandwich triangles, and a tower of scones with jam and cream! Mmmmm! Not only was they lovely food but there were a few craft activity stalls to explore, a comfy "learn to knit" corner, nail painting and a make-up artist pampering the ladies. We also got a goodie bag that was cutely finished with a doily hehe! I loved it. You could do as much or as little as you wished during your time slot. I'm so glad I went. Thank you to the ladies who planned and served on the day. You did an excellent job. And thanks for teaching me how to make those lovely little heart mobiles! Genius!

By the way, if you like the cake stand and would like to know where you can get one, head over to edenfound after you've finished on here and ask the lady who made them :) or see the edenfound blog.

Wedding flowers (18 months on!)

Flowers originally from Forever Green Florist
Flowers originally from Forever Green Florist
After 18 months of marriage (can you believe that?!) I was given my wedding bouquet back. A close friend took it home after the wedding and dried it out so that I could keep it as a memory. I thought it might be interesting to photograph. I think in the future I'll get a frame/box for it and hang it up on display.
It just shows how good my florist was too! I can't recommend Forever Green Florist high enough. If you live near Huddersfield, she is THE one to go to! Seriously, she's amazing and a lovely person to work with. She will make it as de-stressed as possible and put her heart and soul into your flowers. Our flowers were perfect!

After all the wedding prep and excitement leading up to the wedding, then having the wedding, and then waiting nearly a year for the photos I totally forgot to put them up! Here is a selection for you to look at that our photographers took (light&dark photography).
Also, my gorgeous flowers were arranged lovingly and fabulously by the amazing florist who owns Forever Green Florist (in Netherton, Huddersfield). If you are local to Huddersfield she is worth checking out! She has a passion for floristry that shines throughout her work! She is fantastic!

Classy Ladies Night

Bibis (Leeds)
Bibis (Leeds)
Bibis (Leeds)

Well, to celebrate my brilliant friend Sian's (flygirldesign) 21st birthday I introduced her to the wonderful world of Bibis in Leeds. After work we decided to treat ourselves to a classy cocktail and a delicious desert and enjoy her upcoming mile-stone of 21 years! :D The images show us enjoying our treats (they really are worth saving up for a special occasion). This is the only place where I know that they will serve me a luxurious "Chocolate Martini" in England. I had one made specially on honeymoon in Mexico and couldn't find it on any menus since we got back. The staff are as amazing their uniform (sophisticated 20s bar tender style). It's even worth going to see their toilets! Shiny!
What a lovely evening spent with a close friend and 5* service. We were treat like "real Ladies of leisure".

Barnacles!

Over Christmas we went to the in-laws. What a lovely time we had! Thanks Miriam! :)
I did take the camera however the weather wasn't that great and when I finally did take the camera out to the beach, it was so windy I didn't want to risk scratching the lens (might sound stupid but I didn't want to risk getting sand in a camera that wasn't mine).
So instead I randomly started to collect a few barnacle shells. I tried to go for the most colourful - they were darker/brighter when they were wet.
I think it's one of the funniest words I know! Barnacle.
Excuse the towel. I thought they'd stand out more on a darker background than the pale wood of the table.

Christmas Chocolate!

Well it's not exactly "Christmas Chocolate" but it is special chocolate and it was a Christmas present from my boss at Cherrygorgeous. I just couldn't eat them before I at least photographed them all together. They are very adventurous (and award winning) flavours. The brand is Lauden Chocolate. I've seen them around and admired the delicately designed and printed patterns that identify each flavour. I wish you could have smelt what I could when I finally opened the box! Wow!
It's been a while since I did any photography. However over the past few weeks at my placement I've been photographing products all over the place. So I figured now was a good time to do a little bit at home. Although I have no professional lighting back home, I just try to use the natural light from the kitchen window. I think it looks nicer than the yellow kitchen light.
I think it'll take me a while to eat all of these ha!

Party Treats!

Home-made cake treats left over from the party.
Me and my other birthday friend baked for the party. I made the two birthday cakes (Victoria Sandwiches) and she made loads and loads and loads of these cute cup-cakes! I just HAD to photograph them before they got eaten... Yes by me! I'd be surprised if you didn't know me that well yet. Ha! The chocolate fudge ones were my favourite... and oh yes I have 1 of each left for my husband - because I'm a good wife :D

Sand.

We went for a walk to Sands End on Tuesday and I was itching to play with the sand. It's been too long since I've been to a beach. The sand was perfect to write in :) Here are a few things I did.

Ye Old York, Old York!!

I didn't want to put these images with the Tea Room photographs as I like them for a different reason. I love York Minster. I think it's a beautiful piece of architecture to photograph and it has so much history to find out. I also added the image of a traditional sign post to show the end of my trip back to the station and back to Huddersfield.

Time for Tea in York (Trip 2)

These are the photographs for my York Tea Room Testing day. Some were amazing, like Betty's, and some not so amazing, which I won't say as I don't want to get sued!! But you can definitely go to York and find a lovely little tea room somewhere with prices ranging from £3.50 for a pot of tea for one to as cheap as £2 for a pot. Brilliant. But just remember to take someone with you. My day was slightly less funny without my Mum (who came with me on the Tuesday). I sat in the Tea Rooms by myself. I felt quite lonely. However, I still had a lovely day and managed to try and test at least 5 cafe/tea rooms to use for my Celebrate the City project.
